A for Apple and B for Ball is old and incorrect. In a today’s India where we are rewriting history/facts and rules – it’s essential that we update our classrooms with the contemporary set of ABCD.
From traveling few cities around the globe, I have learned many things, starting from the history to the beautifying city and preserving the glory and its culture.
In these years, I have developed a belongingness in my heart for the city. One day, I wish to see Bhubaneswar as the most attractive travel destinations that India can offer.
What makes a city beautiful?
In past few days, I was busy in my graduate school work. Still, the hangover continues adding more and more work to already overloaded baggage. Anyway, here I am back again. Often in my blog post, I write first things first. But this time I would prefer to keep you thinking until you reach the end of my post. I request all my loyal readers to read until the end if you want your city to be beautiful.
We seek beauty in many forms: through art and architecture; from water views and mountain highs; in its people and its history. The beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, but when it comes to cities, beauty is objective. From traveling few cities around the globe, I have learned many things, starting from the history to the beautifying city and preserving the glory and its culture.
The city planning should be concerned mainly with beauty along with the environmental issues. The endowment of ‘beautiful’ encompasses in building the environment and urban design which is crucial to the infrastructure of the city. Central to this endowment is the idea of four things:
- building the infrastructure of the city responsive to human ecology
- preserving the waterfront of the city by facilitating and supporting the marketplace
- a convenient public transportation system which motivates people to visit your cities
- cleanliness — Here, I would prefer a one-liner, ‘Beautiful is What Next to Impossible‘
Whatever form of beauty you wanna see, I’ve put together a list of the visited cities for your reference. All images were taken on my iPhone 6 and shared on my Instagram.

#1. Taipei, Taiwan
The capital city of the Republic of China (commonly referred to as Taiwan), Taipei City is widely regarded as the political, economic, and cultural center of Taiwan. Pronounced in Mandarin as Táiběi, the city is located in the northern part of the island in a basin between the Yangming Mountains and the Central Mountains. Wherever you go, the cultural kaleidoscope of Taipei showcases exhilarating diversity. Here, in this post, I would like to reflects on some of the things (from above four points) which makes Taipei beautiful and attractive.
Taipei is home to TAIPEI 101, formerly known as the Taipei World Financial Center – is one of the supertall skyscraper of the world which attracts most tourist to the city. #7. Bhubaneswar, India
Now, you must have got a glimpse of what makes a city beautiful and attractive. Let me summarize for my readers, here, I have highlighted three major things which make cities beautiful such as beautiful buildings, waterfront, and public transportation system. As mentioned earlier, it is needless to say cleanliness is important. Hope you understand.
Bhubaneswar – the Temple City of India is last in the list but not the least. I have written another blog post on Bhubaneswar and how we can attract tourists to the Temple City. Please do read and comment on the post by visiting this link: Top 5 Attractions in and around Bhubaneswar.
My love for my city is obvious. The city which taught me and pushed me to the level where I am today. I got my higher education degrees here. More importantly, the city gave me the love of my life. I met my beautiful wife (In those days we used to be classmate) in this city. I learned and objectify the compassion of my life and destiny in this city. Over the years, I have developed a belongingness in my heart for this city. One day, I wish to see Bhubaneswar as the most attractive travel destinations that India can offer.
Bhubaneswar has a unique position by virtue of the ability to seamlessly integrate its rich cultural heritage with a strong regional economic base. Founded during the Kalinga empire over 3,000 years ago, Bhubaneswar today boasts of a cluster of magnificent temples, constituting a complete record of Odisha temple architecture from its early beginnings to its culmination. Bhubaneswar has no definite centre and the pockets of attractions are dotted in and around the city; and its indelible fame and glory which can place the city on the top. As in my previous blog post, I mentioned places in and around Bhubaneswar such as Deras Dam, Kanjia Lake, Dhauli Hill, Khandagiri, Udaygiri, and Kalijai Island can take us to such heights. As Prof. Shlomo Angel says “Sprawl Can Be Beautiful—if Cities Learn to Manage Growth”
Developing these sites will not only beautify the city and attracts tourist but will also offer enough opportunity to create small businesses. It is needless to say, how a huge number of tourist can transform a city’s economic status and create a space on the global map. Hope, not only me, but all my loyal reader wish to see their city on the top.
If time permits and if I can take break from my graduate school, I would love to write an article on which pockets of attractions of Bhubaneswar can be transformed into a truly world class tourist attractions. Your suggestion and comments are welcome on this space.
Thank you all sticking with me. Please follow my blog for my thoughts on Travel, Technology, Politics, Societal, Love and more.
